GLAZED CHOCOLATE DONUTS AND TEGAN & SARA
Chocolate glazed donuts for the release of Tegan and Sara’s acoustic version of “So Jealous” - one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time, and an album that shaped my early teen years. This album was introduced to me around the same time I started taking baking seriously, and donuts have always intimidated me. It wasn’t until I made myself make them continuously for awhile (turns out you can get sick of them) that I no longer feared them. To celebrate nostalgia all around, I’m making these babies. I’m choosing ‘Where Does the Good Go’ as the featured song because anyone who was sad at least once in 2004 knows this was the anthem.

Once you see how easy it is to make cake donuts you can laugh at me being intimidated at all. This donut batter is 2 cups AP flour sifted with 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tsp baking powder and a pinch of salt. In a separate bowl whisk together a cup of milk, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup veggie oil, 2 tsps vanilla and 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Stir to combine and then add into the dry.

Put into a donut pan (I used a frosting bag to pipe it in) and bake at 350 degrees for 15-17 mins. Dip hot into glaze and let sit for a few minutes. The glaze was just your average one: 2 cups powdered sugar, 5-8 tablespoons milk, vanilla. Enjoy!
